Research & Planning: Band Imagery

My front cover, contents page and double page spread needs to have a colour scheme and layout that suit the magazines genre.
    Here are a few album covers and band photographs that fit both the genre and style of my magazine:

 

This image has a strict colour scheme of red, black and a cream colour.  This adds a vintage style to the cover, which I don't want, however I need to stick to a colour scheme also in order to make certain aspects of my magazine stand out.

This image of Nickelback has back lighting which adds shadows to the foreground however the faces of the band members are still visible.  Also the use of a blue tinge over everything gives the photograph a supernatural feel adding to the Alternative Rock/Metal genre.
